No Alibis Press welcomes submissions of exceptionally good fiction for adults in any genre. Unfortunately at this time we cannot accept non-fiction, children’s books, young adult fiction or collections of poetry.
Please follow the submission guidelines below. We aim to reply to all submissions within 8 weeks. If you haven’t heard from us after 8 weeks of submitting, please do feel free to email us (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If we decide that we cannot publish your work, please do not take it personally. We really do understand the effort, commitment and outstanding dedication that is required to complete a manuscript; we have the utmost respect and appreciation for all authors who have taken the time to submit work to No Alibis Press. We are a small press at the start of our journey. We have the passion and love but not the resources of a large publishing house. We hope you understand.
Submissions that meet the following guidelines are welcome at any time.
Please email your complete manuscript (Word or PDF) to email@example.com along with:
- A cover letter telling us a little bit about yourself, your writing, your influences and anything else that helps us understand why you think we’re a good match. This can be a separate attachment or the body of the email.
- A synopsis - we don’t specify a length, whatever word count you need to outline the novel is fine by us.
Please note, we do not accept hard copies of manuscripts that are left in the shop as we can’t guarantee they’ll end up in the right place.
All inquiries about No Alibis Press should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
Can I drop a hard copy of the manuscript into No Alibis?
Please don’t. The shop is a bustling hive of activity and the best way to ensure your work ends up where it should, is to email it directly to the press at email@example.com
I want to email my manuscript to you, can I also send it elsewhere?
By all means. We are a small press publishing around 4 titles a year. We are happy for you to send your MS to several publishers at once.
Do I need an agent?
No. Agents are great: they work hard to ensure authors find the right publishing press for their work and much more besides. However, while we value the wonderful work agents do, having an agent is not a prerequisite for submitting a manuscript to No Alibis Press. We gratefully accept submissions from agents and directly from authors.
Will I get feedback?
We will let you know if we would like to proceed with publishing your work within 8 weeks. However, owing to the large number of submissions we receive, we are only able to provide detailed feedback and advice to authors we feel we will be in a position to publish.
For further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
